This is the Privacy Policy for the Gold and Silver app. The app is developed and maintained by an independent individual developer and is not operated by any registered company or organization. We do our best to protect and respect your privacy.
App Privacy details (Apple categories)
To match the categories declared in the App Store and the app's privacy manifest, the data we collect falls under:
• Device identifiers — your Apple Push Notification device token, used only to deliver the price notifications you have opted into. Not linked to your identity. Not used for tracking.
• Product interaction — anonymized usage analytics (e.g. screens viewed, app opens) via TelemetryDeck. Not linked to your identity. Not used for tracking.
No other data categories are collected. We do not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track users across apps or websites.
How is information collected or shared?
We do not process sensitive personal information or intend to take any user information for our own tracking or advertisement purposes. The app provides gold and silver price data sourced from publicly available market feeds and APIs to help users make informed decisions. We collect personal information only when you voluntarily provide it, such as when you enable push notifications or submit a form through the app.
Personal information you disclose to us
The only personal data we store on our server is your device token when you opt in for push notifications. Along with the token, we store your notification preferences — specifically, your selected IBJA schedule (1 PM, 7 PM, or both), MCX notification preference, holiday reminder preference, LBMA notification preference, and your selected region (India or Global). This information is used solely to send you the price updates you have opted into.
If you use the 'Contact Us' or 'Report an Issue' forms within the app, we collect your email address and the message you submit. This information is sent to us via email and is used only to address your query or reported issue. We do not store this information in any database or use it for any other purpose.
We do not collect your name, phone number, location, or any financial information. We do not run any advertisements in the app, and we do not sell or share your data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
Information automatically collected
To make the app work seamlessly and provide a good user experience, we use some third-party tools. We try to use only those services that respect user privacy and do not capture personal or financial information. However, we also need to abide by their respective Privacy Policies. It is your absolute right to know what tools the app uses. Hence here's the list with their description.
1. Cloudflare
Cloudflare is a cloud platform that hosts our backend servers (Cloudflare Workers) and database (Cloudflare D1). All API requests from the app pass through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may process limited technical data such as IP addresses and request metadata as part of delivering the service. Cloudflare does not sell personal data and uses it only for the purpose of providing and improving their services. All connections are encrypted using SSL/TLS. 2. Metals.dev
Metals.dev is a precious metals price API that provides the gold and silver price data used in the app. This service is called entirely from our backend servers — no direct connection is made between your device and Metals.dev. Your personal information is never shared with or exposed to this service. The API provides price data only, and no user-related data is exchanged. 3. TelemetryDeck
TelemetryDeck is a privacy-friendly analytics service that helps us understand how the app is being used — such as which screens are viewed most, how often the app is opened, and general device information like operating system version. TelemetryDeck is designed with privacy at its core: it does not collect any personally identifiable information. All user identifiers are anonymized using double-hashing before being sent to TelemetryDeck's servers, making it impossible to trace data back to any individual user. TelemetryDeck does not track users across apps or websites. The SDK is fully open source and its source code is publicly available on GitHub for anyone to verify. 4. Lottie
Lottie is an open-source animation library by Airbnb that renders lightweight, vector-based animations in the app. It is used purely for visual presentation and does not collect, transmit, or process any user data. The library is fully open source and its source code is publicly available on GitHub.
Push notifications
The app uses Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver price update notifications. When you enable notifications, your device token is stored on our server along with your preferences. You can choose which notifications to receive — IBJA price updates (1 PM and 7 PM IST), MCX spot prices (10 AM IST), holiday reminders, and LBMA fixes for global users — all configurable from within the app. This token is used solely for sending you the price updates you have opted into. You can disable or change your notification preferences at any time from the app settings or your device settings. We do not use notifications for advertising or promotional purposes.
If your device token becomes invalid (for example, after uninstalling the app), it is automatically removed from our server. We do not retain device tokens that are no longer active.
Data retention
Your device token and notification preferences are retained on our server for as long as your token remains active with Apple's Push Notification service. Invalid or expired tokens are automatically deleted when detected. Information submitted through contact or issue report forms is retained only in our email inbox and is not stored in any database.
We respect your privacy
We are sincerely concerned for user privacy and security and do not use or will never use any unethical manners to earn revenue or user data. The app does not contain any advertisements, does not use any advertising SDKs, and does not track users for marketing purposes. If you find any issues or disagreements, you can always contact us with your concerns, and we will look into that.
Child safety
The app provides publicly available financial market data and can be used by all age groups. The content is informational and does not contain any age-restricted material. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app is available on platforms with internet capabilities, it is advisable for children to use the app under parental supervision.
